Marine Concepts - New £2.5m advanced composite facility

Morested Ltd were instructed to review tender returns and designs from a previous tender exercise which had come in significantly over budget. We initially took an in depth review of the design, proposals, employers requirements and listened to the client about what were the key drivers of the project. After undertaking this review we suggested a revised procurement approach and some value engineering in an attempt to reduce costs by close to £750k.

We then implemented a Pre-Construction Services Agreement and tackled all of the unknowns, risks and got to a point where we could say with confidence the cost of the project, this was a key driver to allow funding to be secured and satisfy requirements from the wider land owner Homes England, regarding the viability of the project.

Upon assisting the client to obtain funding, we managed the project, costs and utilities and acted as Employers Agent, PM and QS.

The project came in on budget and on programme, to allow a small client fit-out prior to commencing their advanced composites production.
